Citing a dataset correctly is just as important as citing articles, books, images and websites - each dataset is a source of evidence to support our argument.

This resource includes videos, presentations and top ten tips for citing data. These can be used by trainers to teach and highlight the importance of data citation. 

These introductory level interactive modules are designed for users who want to get to grips with key aspects of survey, longitudinal and aggregate data.

Modules can be conducted in your own time and you are able to dip in and out when needed. The modules give an introduction to key aspects of the data using short instructional videos, interactive quizzes and activities using open access software where possible.

Each module stands alone but those with little experience of surveys may find it useful to start with the Survey Data Module before moving on to the Longitudinal Data Module.

Guide designed to be used as a resource for encouraging better data management and research integrity in undergraduate dissertations, and is aimed at RDM trainers and teachers supervising research projects and students undertaking them. The resource consists of a number of practical templates and exemplars, and a link to the slides for teaching is also included. These can be adapted and modified to suit various project needs and different disciplines.

QualiBank is an online tool for browsing, searching and citing the content of selected qualitative data collections held at the UK Data Service.

DMPonline is a web-based tool that supports researchers to develop data management and sharing plans. It contains the latest funder templates and best practice guidelines to support users to create quality DMPs.

Within the tool you will find custom guidance and example answers to help you develop your DMP. These are offered by the DCC, research funders and many research organisations. You can also browse the growing list of public DMPs published by other users of the tool for inspiration.

The service is free at the point of use for researchers to develop DMPs regardless of whether their institution or funder is a customer. DMPonline is also available on subscription for institutions that require a customised service.

It is an online escape room game that engages researchers with the principles of research data management (RDM). The game is a collaboration between Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Lena Karvovskaya and Elisa Rodenburg), Leiden University Libraries (Joanne Yeomans), and Eindhoven University of Technology (Anne Aarts and Bart Aben).The room we created consists of six tasks related to the following data management topics: FAIR data, personal data, data archiving, data transfer, persistent identifiers, and metadata.

This course equips digital preservation professionals with a range of skills relating to various aspects of receiving, handling, and managing digital content. Introduction to copyright law and the relationship between licences and copyright exceptions. The four ‘suits’ in the game are:
- Copyright works
 - Usages, or what the law calls the ‘restricted acts’ that are the exclusive right of the copyright holder. How does what you want to do with a work map onto the usages as defined in the law?
 - Licenses – how do licences work? What licences are available and how might they be used to enable you to go beyond what the law might allow
 - Exceptions – what copyright exceptions exist in the UK and how can you make better use of them.

This Train-the-Trainers (TTT) package forms an addition to the CESSDA Data Management Expert Guide which was developed by the CESSDA Training Working Group in 2017 and 2018.

This package contains different materials that trainers can use in developing and giving Research Data Management and Discovery trainings for (social science) researchers.
